SHAMOKIN -- Police in Northumberland County said a woman admitted to stealing from a fire victim's fund she help set up.

Authorities said Victoria Fortune of Shamokin turned herself in Thursday morning for allegedly stealing about $1,200 from a fire victim's fund.

The fire fund was set up for the family of Melissa Pangburn, 13, who was killed after her house caught fire on South Rock Street in Shamokin in December.

After the fire, police said Fortune set up a fund for Pangburn's family but pocketed the money for personal use.

She's now charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
