Man Guilty of Having Illegal Pet Monkey

HONESDALE — A man from Wayne County was ordered to pay a fine after he was found guilty of having a pet monkey without the proper permits.

Court papers report John Poliandro of Lakeville was found guilty of possessing a Capuchin monkey without a permit.

According to the Wayne County Wildlife Conservation, Poliandro purchased the monkey from someone in Missouri. Officials claim it was transported illegally into Pennsylvania.

Poliandro was ordered to pay $150 and all costs of prosecution.
