Man Dead after Altercation with Police

OVERFIELD TOWNSHIP -- Authorities in Wyoming County said a man was shot and killed by police at a home near Lake Winola.

State police said Brian Williams, 42, died at the house off Route 307 in Overfield Township after being shot by police.

State police said they were assisting numerous police departments at the home after a warrant had been issued for Williams to be examined by a physician.

Officers were attempting to apprehend Williams when an altercation between Williams and officers occurred.

Williams was shocked with a stun gun and shot, and declared dead at the scene by the Wyoming County coroner.

State police said this is an ongoing investigation with the Wyoming County coroner and the Wyoming County district attorney's office.
