CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- An office manager for a lumber company in Wayne County is under arrest, accused of stealing from her employer.

Jeannie Brooks, 40, of Prompton is accused of taking nearly $24,000 from Aldenville Log and Lumber in Clinton Township near Honesdale.

The district attorney's office said Brooks wrote checks to herself from the company between April 2014 to January 2016.

She is locked up in the Wayne County Prison with bail set at $25,000.

Brooks was previously sentenced for theft from the Wayne County Tax Claim Office in 2012.

Wait a minute….this female was arrested and convicted for stealing $11,000 from the Wayne County tax bureau. So this lumber company hires her after the conviction. And puts her in a position where she’s dealing with money. Hmmm…the lumber company has part of the blame here. You mean they couldn’t find someone without a felony to handle their money? She’s the only one they could find?
