HONESDALE — A woman has been sentenced for stealing from Wayne County’s tax claim bureau.
Jeannie Brooks, 37, of Prompton received between 45 days and 18 months in prison.
Investigators say instead of depositing more than $11,000 in tax payments, Brooks stole the money while working for Wayne County.
The incidents occurred between April and July of 2012 in the Wayne County Tax Claim Office.
Brooks paid restitution of $11,787.35 prior to sentencing.
She pleaded guilty to the charges against her in January.
