WILLIAMSPORT -- A group of friends that allegedly conspired to beat up a man in Williamsport earlier this month were charged Monday in Lycoming County.

Police say the target in this case pulled out a gun and fatally shot one of his attackers. That man also faces charges.

Thomas Carstetter, Tyler Cagle, and Kirsten Sedlock now face several charges including criminal conspiracy for planning an attack on Sedlock's ex-boyfriend Dustan Paulhamus.

"She don't deserve these charges. He doesn’t either. I’m done," said Carstetter as he walked out of his arraignment.

Back in early August, police were called to the Newberry section of Williamsport for a shooting.

Police say Sedlock invited her ex-boyfriend to her home in Newberry Estates to pick up his belongings. When Paulhamus went into the home, Carstetter and Cagle kicked and beat him. Police say the assault was planned.

"Why were you waiting in the home for him?"

"I wasn't waiting in the home. Look at him. He pulled the trigger. I was making sure he wasn't going to hurt her," said Carstetter.

Police say during the struggle, Paulhamus shot two of the men. Chaz Sawyer, 18, was killed. The attack was recorded with a cellphone.

"Chaz was one of his friends and he didn't deserve this," said Carstetter.

The shooter Paulhamus now faces several new charges including voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Carstetter and Sedlock face aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter charges.

"Involuntary manslaughter, it will all come out in court," said Carstetter.

Police say when they first spoke to Carstetter he lied to them about the shooting.

"His actions were reckless. Although he isn't responsible for pulling the trigger, his action caused the trigger to be pulled, therefore he is at least legally for Mr. Sawyer's death," said Agent Raymond Kontz.

The shooter, Dustan Paulhamus, his ex-girlfriend Kirsten Sedlock, and Thomas Carstetter are all in prison. Tyler Cagle was shot in the chest during the altercation earlier this month he was released on $95,000 unsecured bail.
