LUZERNE COUNTY -- Since May, vandals have damaged a pool at a home in Plains Township near Laflin four times.

On four separate occasions, they've cut holes in the lining of the above ground pool.

"The pool I basically put up for other people, not myself. So it's not like they are taking away from me. They are taking away from my friends and the other people that come over to enjoy it that can't afford to have a pool," said Becky Kashula of Plains Township.

Becky Kashula says she spent thousands of dollars to repair the liner, but after the third time she had to buy a whole new pool.

"For the past two or three months, it's been mentally, physically, and financially exhausting, not knowing who's doing what they're doing to me and why," added Kashula.

Neighbors noticed Becky Kashula putting up the brand new pool on Sunday, but say they grew concerned after realizing that within hours the vandals had struck again.

"We went over and knocked at the front door, and we didn't get an answer. I told my wife, if we don't get an answer at the back door we will have to call police. But she did answer and she was visibly upset," said James O'Meara of Plains Township.

O'Meara lives in the neighborhood and says some of the neighbors, including himself, now check up on Kashula. They are concerned about the damage to the pool, her, and their community.

"You know, it's disturbing on a number of levels. I think it's dangerous, not only for her but for anybody in the immediate area. People who are willing to do this, they don't care who sees them and they don't care that police know they are doing it," O'Meara added.

Plains Township police are investigating the vandalism and want anyone with information to contact them.

In the meantime, Becky Kashula isn't sure if she can afford to fix all the damage, again.

Update: On Friday, Olympic Pools donated a new pool to Kashula.
