SCRANTON -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton returned to her father's birthplace raising money in her run for president.

Clinton has made numerous stops in Scranton. This is her first in her latest campaign for president.

After a stop at her father's grave, she went to a private fundraiser at the home of Virginia McGregor, one of Clinton's biggest Scranton supporters.

About 100 people attended. An invitation required at least $1,000 to be donated to the Clinton campaign.

Part of North Washington Avenue was filled with people hoping to get a glimpse of Clinton, if only for a few seconds.

It was an exclusive ticket that carried with it a hefty donation to Clinton's campaign, but still about 100 people filed in to the McGregor family property in Scranton's Green Ridge section.

They lined up outside, too. A few dozen Hillary supporters young and old waited across the street. A few anti-Clinton protesters joined them, too.

After Clinton's motorcade came by, many waited longer to try to catch a glimpse of the presidential candidate.

"I'm a big fan of Hillary's and I worked for Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton," said Mary Jean Moran. "If I had $1,000, I would go inside and give it to them, but I don't, so I thought I'd like to get a nice glimpse of her from outside."

"Just to see history in the making, Hillary become president someday," said Tracy Henriksen.

I'm from Le Claire, Iowa and Hillary was in my town not too long ago and in the village of East Davenport and I happen to be on travel with my husband here in Scranton and Mary tells me Hillary's going to be here! I'm thinking, 'Hey, Mary, let's go see Hillary!" said Mary Anna Parris.

From the outside, you could only see her for a few seconds giving thumbs up to the crowd before leaving in her motorcade again.

This trip to the city where her father was born is expected to be the first of many before November of 2016.

"Every time that she comes back to run, she comes here as one of her main stomping grounds, so I think she has Scranton's back and hopefully we can have hers, so, I'm excited for today," said Mimi Doherty.
