COGAN HOUSE TOWNSHIP -- A teen from Lycoming County died in a crash on her 18th birthday. The victim's friends tell Newswatch 16 the girl lost control of the car soon after leaving a birthday celebration at her home.

Besides a few passing trucks and sounds from Larry's Creek, a stretch of Route 287 near Salladasburg was quiet.  There were few signs that a deadly crash happened here. This is where troopers said Jordan Emert, 18, of Trout Run died Sunday afternoon after she lost control of her car on a curve and hit a boulder on the side of the road.

Family friends say Jordan was headed toward Jersey Shore when the crash happened, that she spent her morning at home with family celebrating her 18th birthday.

"I did know it was her birthday. I didn't get the chance to message her. Once I got home I was getting ready to do it and then I seen that," said Eric Chrisenberry.

Chrisenberry remembers his friend Jordan as carefree and always smiling.

"I made a video online for everybody out there that is feeling down. Cause I know she wouldn't want you to feel down. She would want you to feel happy and live life like the way she did," said Chrisenberry.

"I was floored I was counting money in there this morning and I seen it on the TV and I just couldn't believe it," said Sandy McNamara.

We met McNamara at Gamble Farm in Jersey Shore where she used to work with Jordan.

"I'm going to remember her free spirit her hula hooping. She was just a great kid,” said McNamara.

Family friends tell us Jordan recently graduated from cyber school and had been working at a store in Williamsport.
