Services Listed For Slain Soldier

POTTSVILLE — Funeral services for a soldier killed while serving in Afghanistan have been scheduled.

The Department of Defense said Capt. Jason Jones, 29, of Orwigsburg, died Monday of wounds received from a small-arms fire fight in Afghanistan.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, on Market Street in Pottsville.

Guests will be received by the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Interment at West Point will be held early next week.

The family request contributions in Capt. Jones’ honor be sent to Wounded Warrior Project.
