MONTOURSVILLE -- Montoursville’s mayor of 30-plus years has unofficially won re-election by a narrow margin.

Republican John Dorin mounted a write-in campaign earlier this year and got enough votes to be on the Democratic ticket this November.

According to early Lycoming County election results, Dorin had about 50 more votes than his challenger, Republican Kim Dirocco.

If the votes hold up, Dorin will serve a ninth term as mayor in Montoursville.

“I come up with a write-in after I decided to retire. And now I'm going in for four more years. This is great, I love Montoursville, it's a great community and I'm going to look for four more years,” Mayor Dorin said.

He says his campaign spent more this election than any of the previous eight combined.

Turnout in the borough was big with more than 1,200 voters going to the polls, voting to re-elect John Dorin as mayor of Montoursville.
