CLIFTON TOWSHIP --- A man in Lackawanna County is being called a hero after he shot and killed two pit bulls that went after an elderly neighbor.
Tim Harte was honored by the Clifton Township Board of Supervisors before their meeting Thursday night.
State Police tell Newswatch 16, earlier this month the dogs attacked Anthony Wilson, 77, on Clifton Beach Road near Gouldsboro.
Investigators say that's when Harte grabbed his gun and shot the animals.
Harte was given a plaque from the board and a medal from John Allen, a friend of the victim.
The victim had to be hospitalized after the pit bull attack in Lackawanna County.
