WILKES-BARRE – Former classmates of the man
shot and killed yesterday
told Newswatch 16 that he was close friends with the man charged with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death.

Luzerne County’s Acting Coroner said Zachary Williams, 22, Nanticoke died from a gunshot wound to the head, and that the death has been labeled a homicide.

Brandon Switzer was released to his family in Nanticoke, after they posted $250,000 bail through a bondsman.

Yolanda Rosario told Newswatch 16 that Williams was a father of a one-year-old girl.

“All he did was talk about her. He loved his baby girl Olivia, he really did. He was genuinely a good person. Anybody who knew Zack knew he was a good kid,” said Rosario. “Anybody who knew Zack knew he was a good kid.”

Samantha Buckingham said she attended high school with both Williams and Switzer, who were frequently seen hanging out together in Nanticoke and Wilkes-Barre.

“It was horrible, horrible. It was sad. And they were best friends so that’s got to be worse,” said Buckingham. “They were best friends. They were together every day.”

Switzer is scheduled to appear before a judge next month in Luzerne County.
