HAZLETON -- Newswatch 16 has learned that investigators believe Hazleton's police chief is to blame for a crash that seriously injured a motorcycle driver.
The crash report indicates that Chief Frank DeAndrea ran a red light at Broad and Laurel Streets on May 18 when his police cruiser hit the motorcycle and caused the wreck.
Walter Bloss, 80, was on the motorcycle and had to be treated for injuries.
The investigation involving Chief DeAndrea was given to state police and the state attorney general's office to avoid a conflict of interest.
It will now be up to those authorities to figure out if any traffic citations will be filed against the Hazleton police chief because of the crash.
