    KELLY TOWNSHIP — State police said two men stole motor oil from a Walmart in Union County. Authorities said the theft happened Wednesday at the store near Lewisburg when one man filled a shopping cart with gallon jugs of oil and then pushed the cart out of the store without paying.   • UPDATE: Deadly Crash on Route 11 Near Bloomsburg

    SCOTT TOWNSHIP — The driver of a pickup truck died in a head-on crash Thursday morning in Columbia County. Police say a bread truck veered into oncoming traffic on Route 11 near Bloomsburg and hit the pickup around 6:15 a.m. Officers tell us the driver of the pickup, Michael Moskovich of Bloomsburg, died at the hospital. The other driver, Joshua Sietsma of Dalton, was thrown from his truck and is in the hospital.

  • Business Robbed at Gunpoint

    CASTANEA TOWNSHIP — Police are looking for a thief that robbed a business in Clinton County. Police said a man with a gun entered Fuel On in Castanea Township, near Lock Haven around 10:30 p.m. Monday, and demanded money before he fled the scene. Police said the man was dressed in dark colored clothing and was approximately 5’8″ with a medium build. Police would like anyone has any information regarding the alleged armed robbery to contact them.

  • Homeless Man Led Police on Chase After Alleged Robbery

    WILKES-BARRE — Police took a homeless man into custody after an alleged armed robbery in Luzerne County. Authorities said Matthew Vantine, 27, led them on a chase after he allegedly robbed the Turkey Hill on N. Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilkes-Barre just before 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday. According to police, Vantine was violent and fought with officers while being taken into custody. Vantine is charged with robbery, aggravated assault and other related charges.

  • Shots Fired at Person, Home

    HAZLETON — Police in Luzerne County are investigating after shots were fired. Authorities said five shots were fired into a home in the area of the 100 block of East 5th Street in Hazleton around 6:00 a.m. Monday. Police said shots were also fired at a male victim in the area. No injuries were reported. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, contact Hazleton Police.

  • Pair of Police Allegedly Attacked

    HAZLETON — A man is locked up for attacking a pair of cops. Authorities said they were called to the 700 block of North Locust Street for a fight between a man and his girlfriend  just before 7:30p.m. Sunday. Officers said Raymond Koslop, 26, of Hazleton, then attacked the cops. Koslop is locked up on charges for assault and resisting arrest.

  • Tom Wolf Urging Pennsylvanians to be Cautious

    YORK COUNTY — Governor Tom Wolf is getting ready to oversee his first big weather event since taking office last week. Wolf toured a PennDOT stockpile in York County Sunday and met with crews to get a look at the equipment. “Everybody is doing their best to prepare for this.   • Homicide Charges Filed Against Man Accused of Killing Roommate

    WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP – Police in Schuylkill County filed homicide charges against a man accused of killing his roommate. Officers charged Thomas Petrousky, 54, of West Mahanoy Township, with criminal homicide and related charges on Thursday accusing him of killing his roommate, David Halaburda, at a home on Wylam Street near Frackville in April. Petrousky is charged also with first and third degree murder, and reckless endangerment.

  • County Faces More Payroll Problems

    WILKES-BARRE — There are more payroll problems in Luzerne County. According to county leaders, workers who get life insurance and short and long term disability will not get paid their direct deposits Friday. County Budget and Finance Director Brian Swetz said a glitch caused an entire year’s worth of insurance deductions to be taken instead of one. Employees will get manual paper paychecks instead.   • Man Attacked, Stabbed

    PLAINS TOWNSHIP – Police are looking for two people after an alleged stabbing in Luzerne County. Police said Naquan Brown of New York was walking on Maffett Street in Plains Township around 3:30 a.m. when he was jumped by two people, stabbed in the thigh and robbed. The victim then went to the Turkey Hill on South Main Street near Wilkes-Barre looking for help, according to authorities. Police said the suspects got away with cash.  

  • Man Arrested for Allegedly Stalking Elderly Woman

    SPRING TOWNSHIP — A Snyder County man was arrested for allegedly stalking an elderly woman. State police said Daniel Pick, 55 of Beavertown, trespassed onto an elderly woman’s property on Saturday just before 8:30 p.m., unscrewed her porch light and tried to lure her into opening her front door in the dark.
