  • Man Accused of Stealing from Walmart

    MAHONING TOWNSHIP — A man is in trouble with the law after a theft from a store in Carbon County. Police arrested Anthony Jacobacci (as seen on the right), 55, Jim Thorpe yesterday. Authorities say he stole more than $800 worth of stuff from Walmart near Lehighton last month. Police are still on the lookout for Justin Jacobacci, 30 Jim Thorpe and Jessalyn Rider Lehighton.

    SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP — Authorities in Lackawanna County say a woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon. According to police, Susan L. Duncan, 58, of Scranton died in a crash along Country Club Road in South Abington Township. According to South Abington Township police, the woman’s vehicle drifted off of the road and struck a guide rail around 2:30 p.m. Duncan was the only person in the vehicle.   • One Dead In Wreck

    MONROE TOWNSHIP — One man was killed in and  Route 11 was shut down in an afternoon accident in Snyder County on Saturday. According to troopers, Michael Weatherill, 42, of Danville lost control of his vehicle while he was traveling South on Route 11 in Monroe Township.   • Scouts Give Honor To Flag

    SCRANTON — Dozens of American flags were retired Saturday during a special ceremony in Scranton. Boy Scout Troop 34 assisted Marines with disposing of the flags at the Marine Corps League on Alder Street. The scouts helped pile up the flags, which were then burned.     JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — Golfers hit the links Saturday to raise money for the Little Sisters of the Poor. More than 100 golfers turned out the Scranton Municipal Golf Course near Mount Cobb for the event.   • Annual Auction Back After Absence

    MOOSIC — Baseball fans in Lackawanna County had a chance to get their hands on some sports memoribilia. The annual Allied Auction was held Saturday at PNC Field. The auction was cancelled last year due to construction at the field. For just five dollars, fans could also meet the RailRiders players and get autographs. All money raised goes to Allied Services in Lackawanna County.

  • Officials Ask Community To Help After Recent Drug Busts

    SHICKSHINNY — An emergency news conference was held Saturday by the mayor of Shickshinny after at least two meth lab busts in less than a week in the borough. Three people were arrested in just five days for allegedly running meth labs out of their homes. Cops say there are more suspected labs yet to be busted.   • Man on the Loose Considered Dangerous

    ARMENIA TOWNSHIP — A man wanted for burglary is on the run in Bradford County. State police are looking for Kevin McGettigan. Officers say McGettigan, 42, broke into a home on Mountain Avenue near Troy and stole money on Monday. Troopers believe McGettigan is dangerous.
