    POTTSVILLE – The Pennsylvania State Police has issued an Amber Alert for a teenager who was abducted this morning, after a house fire and assault in Schuylkill County. Investigators believe 17-year-old Kassidy Bowers was abducted from a home around 6 a.m. on Howard Avenue in Pottsville by 20-year-old Stephen Campion Jr. Bowers is descibed as 5’ 8” tall, 135 lbs. with brown eyes and sholder length brown hair.   • Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting in Wilkes-Barre

    WILKES-BARRE- Police in Luzerne county are investigating a shooting. It happened around 3:00 a.m. on Hughes Street in Wilkes-Barre. Officials say a fight broke out between several people. Someone then pulled out a gun and fired at least six shots. Authorities say one man was hit and taken to the hospital. Police say whoever fired the gun is still on the loose.

  • Fire Damages Luzerne County Home

    WILKES-BARRE- Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire in Wilkes-Barre. The fire on Pershing Street started around 10:00 p.m. Friday night. Flames heavily damaged the upper floors of the double block home. No word if anyone was hurt in last night’s fire in Luzerne County.

  • Smokey Fire in Dunmore; No Injuries

    DUNMORE- An early morning fire is under investigation in Lackawanna county. The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning at a home on Ross Street in Dunmore. Firefighters say everyone inside at the time of the fire got out and no one was hurt. Authorities tell Newswatch 16 they are still looking for a cause to the fire.

  • Police Say Speed a Factor in Crash

    VANDLING- Police are trying to figure out why a car ran into a porch early Sunday morning near Carbondale. It happened around 6 a.m. on Main Street in Vandling. Saturday afternoon a crash happened down the road involving a cargo truck crashing into a home. The driver of the car has minor injuries, and no one in the house was hurt according to emergency crews. Officials say speed played a factor in the crash Sunday morning in Lackawanna county.

  • UPDATE: Small Fire at Pizza Place in Scranton

    UPDATE: The fire was caused by an electrical problem in a refrigeration unit, according to the Scranton fire chief.  There is no word when the place will reopen SCRANTON — Firefighters were called to a pizza shop in north Scranton late Saturday night. When they arrived, they found smoke at the Pizza Plus on North Keyser Avenue. Officials say the employees already had the business locked up for the night.

  • Benefit Held for Family of Crash Victims

    MINERSVILLE — A benefit was held Saturday night to help a family who lost their two children in a car wreck in March. 3-year-old Catrina Williams and 6-year-old Carianna Kroh were killed when the car they were riding in was hit on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.   • State Police Investigating Deadly Shooting

    TEXAS TOWNSHIP — State Police in Honesdale say one man is dead after a shooting late Saturday night near Honesdale. The shooting happened around 11 p.m. at a home along Bucks Cove Road in White Mills. Investigators say Kenneth Kiefer, 34, was shot by Benjamin Kiefer, 30,  multiple times during a domestic dispute. Kenneth was dead when police arrived on scene. Benjamin Kiefer was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. Benjamin is locked up in the Wayne County Jail.

  • Dog Shot in Bradford County

    TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP- State police in Towanda are investigating a case of animal cruelty. Investigators say it happened Saturday near Wyalusing around 2:30 p.m. State police say 35-year-old Michael Vevetoe got into an argument with a woman he was living with. When she went outside to walk her dog, authorities say Vevetoe went outside and shot the dog three or four times. Vevetoe was charged with reckless endangerment and animal cruelty.

  • Police in Luzerne County Investigating Vandalism

    PITTSTON- Pittston police are investigating a case of vandalism in the city. An employee discovered the vandalism Monday morning when he went to open PC Doctors along South Main Street. Someone spray painted large letters on the front of the building, the display windows and the front door of the business. The employee tells Newswatch 16 the vandalism must have happened between Friday night and early Monday morning. The business is still open in Luzerne county.

  • Fire Near Shamokin Under Investigation

    COAL TOWNSHIP- A state police fire marshal will be investigating the cause of a morning fire in Northumberland county. The fire chief says the fire started in a vacant side of the home along West Church Street in the village of Ranshaw.
