    WILLIAMSPORT — A shootout in Williamsport ended with a boy in the hospital, one man in custody and another on the run. Police say that boy was hit while two men were shooting at each on Park Avenue just after 8 p.m. Saturday. Investigators have one of the men. They’re still looking for the other. That boy is at the hospital after getting hit in the leg in that shooting in Williamsport.

Nature walks and kite-flying were all part of today’s Mountain Laurel Festival at Big Pocono State Park near Reeders. People could tour the refurbished Cattell Cabin.     SCOTT TOWNSHIP — Maiolatesi Wine Cellars hosted the Second Annual Pittie Palooza Festival Saturday near Archbald. Pittie Palooza is the only dog-friendly wine festival in Northeast PA. The money raised at the festival was collected by the Lehigh Valley Pit Bull Awareness Club. It will be distributed to animal rescues that participated in the event.

  • Hazleton Man Killed in Crash in Franklin County

    FRANKLIN COUNTY — A PennDOT worker from Hazleton has been killed on the job in Franklin County. Officials aren’t releasing that man’s name yet. State police say a driver hit that worker along Interstate 81 north near Chambersburg late last night. Troopers are still looking into that deadly crash in Franklin County.

    SCRANTON — This tournament was all about celebrating Italian heritage and having some fun in Scranton. The Lackawanna County Commissioners hosted the 26th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament at McDade Park Saturday. The traditional Italian game requires patience, skill, and strategy. Almost 100 players took part in the tournament in Scranton.

Kurt Aaron, Jim Coles, and Dave Bohman took part in the 11th Annual Little Sisters of the Poor Golf Tournament. The money raised helps the Sisters in their ministries. One of today’s lucky golfers could go home with a free car if they hit a hole-in-one at the tournament here in Lackawanna County.

    TUNKHANNOCK — The Wyoming County United Way announced its efforts to help the families of the victims of the Weis Markets shooting in a press release from Executive Director Kristen Huff. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ families, fellow employees, and friends,” Wyoming County United Way said in the release.     WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes-Barre police tell Newswatch 16 two people were shot Friday night in the city. Officers say the two people were hit in the area of Beaumont and Madison Streets.     WILKES-BARRE — Child porn and sex assault charges put a man behind bars in Luzerne County. Police say Alexander Walski from Wilkes-Barre paid to have sex with a child younger than 16. He also accused of giving drugs to a child.

  • Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting in Scranton

    SCRANTON — No arrest has been made yet in an early morning shooting in Scranton. Police say a woman was shot in the arm while driving through a parking lot on Beech Street just after 2 a.m. Saturday. Investigators say a fight earlier in the night led to the gunfire. Officers in Scranton do have a person of interest and expect to make an arrest soon.
