FACTORYVILLE, Pa. — A dual county competition brought students out on Wednesday to celebrate the Earth and gain interest in the environment.
High school students participated in celebrating the Earth with an environmental-themed competition. The Lackawanna County Conservation District and the Wyoming County Conservation District hosted the Envirothon at Keystone College in Factoryville. The goal was to get students interested in the environment.
"Try to get a dipped interest into environmental science into those natural sciences. We don't always see that those schools kind of get that in, and we also partner with our local conservation district," said Alexandra Thorton.
There were about 100 students who participated in the Envirothon event at Keystone College.
