FACTORYVILLE — Students in Connie Harris’ English class at Lackawanna Trail High School have talent!
The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show announced today that the Factoryville school was a nationwide winner of its 4th annual “Classroom Musical” competition. Lackawanna Trail won in the high school category, and will receive a $1,500 prize to put toward classroom enhancements thanks to contest sponsor Pilot Pens.
“We got so many incredible entries this year, and the competition was fierce; but each of our winners was absolutely awesome,” said J-Si Chavez, co-host of The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, the most-listened-to contemporary morning program in America. “The students of Lackawanna Trail can really sing and dance, and they obviously have a fabulous teacher in Ms. Harris. They have a lot to be proud of!”
For this year’s Classroom Musical competition, The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show enlisted the help of Platinum-selling pop duo Karmin. Students were challenged to shoot a video of their class performing a Glee-style song and dance. The videos were then posted to YouTube, with a link sent to the show. One winning class from each grade division: K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 was selected.
The $1,500 winners in the two other categories were Yolanda Van Ness’ second-grade class at Harmony Hills Elementary in San Antonio and Courtney Reed’s theater arts class at O’Banion Middle School in Garland, Texas.
Next Tuesday, The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show cast will announce which of the three winners will enjoy a live performance at their school by Epic Records artists Karmin.
