SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — Crews were busy Thursday working on power lines in Branch Township. This is just one community that still doesn't have power after Tuesday's storm.
"Tuesday morning, I guess when it hit pretty hard, it flickered a couple of times, and then that was it. It was out so from Tuesday morning on until now," George Spirko said.
The hum of generators can be heard along Main Street as people like Spirko and his family are trying to stay warm.
"I have an old kerosene heater, and she's going. My wife's going to get kerosene, but in the furnace, I'm trying to burn a little bit of wood in an ash can to try to keep the pipes from freezing."
Trees were still down on powerlines throughout the township. It's been a stressful 48 hours for Spirko.
Those power problems followed him to another part of Schuylkill County.
"I have an apartment in Minersville that we went to for a little bit because I had to cook food there, and then the wife and I were out for dinner last night for Valentine's Day, and the power went out in Minersville."
Spirko tells us he was relieved when electrical workers came out to fix the powerlines and poles.
"My jaw dropped because I know we're only a little town, and there's other major places that are out, but they should've been on it," Spirko added. I'm a little disappointed."
PPL is still working to restore power to several communities.
