STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Like the elves in Santa's workshop, members of the Future Business Leaders of America at Stroudsburg High School are working to spread some holiday cheer to some of the district's youngest Mountaineers.
"Oh, it is great to know that these kids are going to have something to look forward to at the holiday," said FBLA Vice President Alisabeth Guepet.
"So each year, we usually do something for Arlington for their backpack program, but this year, we wanted to do something a little different. We decided to go with a stocking stuffer event to help give kids more for the holidays," said Jaden Harper, FBLA chairperson of business partnerships.
Nearly 60 stockings will be given to students and their siblings at Arlington Elementary. Each one was packed with lots of fun treats.
"We have socks, crackers, gum, candy, and all of the stuff was donated by FBLA and community members, so that is really what meant the most here," explained Harper.
"Kids under ten are getting coloring books and crayons. I remember loving to color," said Guepet.
Members of FBLA say this is just one of many community service projects they work on throughout the year.
"Two years ago, we were ranked 2nd statewide for community service, so that was a really big accomplishment, so this year, we are working towards getting first again," said Gigi Parker, chairperson of community service.
These students know this small act of kindness will have a big impact. One stocking at a time.
"I hope that these kids will be brought a lot of joy when they get these stockings because I know how excited I was at Christmas when I got gifts, so I hope we can bring some joy to them," said Parker
The stockings will be delivered to Arlington Elementary on Friday.
