Looking Ahead to the Brewsterhout Rooftop Party

This is the 15th year for the event which raises money for the Osterhout Free Library.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Osterhout Free Library was one of the first libraries in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and it offers more than just books.

"Mobile hot spots for wifi checkout, we have books, games, tools you can check out in that program," Director of Development and Community Relations Michelle Riley said.

Next Friday evening food vendors and breweries will come together to raise money for the library at the 15th annual Brewsterhout Rooftop Party.  There will be more than two dozen restaurants, eight local breweries, live music, and raffles. Tickets are $30, and that includes all of your food and drinks.  The event is on the top level of the Intermodal Center in Wilkes Barre.

"There's great views of the city, a nice sunset, you're enjoying drinks with friends, food, listening to music, there's some other entertainment options and all to support the library," Riley said.

All proceeds go to the Osterhout Free Library, which is the head library of the Luzerne County Library System.

"We only receive so much state funding, so we really have to close those funding gaps with these fundraising events.  It's extremely important to keep our doors open, keep our lights on, keep our creative programs free for the community to attend and to continue to grow our collection," Riley said.
