AVOCA, Pa. -- "Unbelievable." That is how Avoca Borough workers describe it.
It was around 2 a.m. when a man lost control of his pick-up truck on William Street, careening onto Plane Street, smashing through a fence and plowing into the municipal garage.
"Thankfully the driver wasn't hurt, he was ok. Not a lot of damage inside the building to any of the equipment and stuff. Could have been a lot worse," said John Boone, President of Avoca Council.
The driver told police his brakes stopped working.
The investigation into the crash continues.
"I just don't understand how you could lose your breaks and go that far into the building. I mean there's a stop sign at the top of the hill. I don't know," said Caroline Rabender of Avoca.
Borough officials said repairs to the building and a dented municipal dump truck will cost thousands.
"We'll be in touch with our insurance agent and he will be in touch with his insurance agent. We'll let them hash that out," said Boone.
