Sensory-friendly Valentine's dance in Luzerne County

Parenting Autism United, students from Wyoming Area and others organized a sensory-friendly social so people of all ages and abilities could celebrate.

EXETER, Pa. — A group in Luzerne County made sure everyone was able to celebrate Valentine's Day with a party.

This was a family-friendly, sensory-friendly dance for all ages and abilities. It was tailored to people with autism. The goal was to bring the whole community together.

Newswatch 16 found the party, held by Parenting Autism United, on Memorial Street in Exeter.

"We're hoping that they come and have fun. So many events are about resources, which are absolutely 1,000 percent needed, but this one's just about fun. It's just about having a good time, getting out of the house, getting a little glitter on if you want to, and just having a good time," explained Lindsay Dragon of Parenting Autism United.

Students from Wyoming Area High School helped throw the party on Saturday night in Luzerne County.
