SCRANTON, Pa. — UPDATE: Police have charged Alfred Robinson, 35, of Scranton, in connection with a shooting in the Pine Brook section of the city Friday morning.
Police say Robinson shot Ferrew Atkins twice in the leg, arm, and chest area after an argument with another man over an old drug case.
That man and Robinson fled in a pickup truck. Robinson returned to the garage and told police he owns the garage and shot Atkins. He was arrested and taken away in handcuffs.
It happened at the intersection of Ash Street and Capouse Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Friday in the garage of a tire business.
Neighbors say they heard two shots.
"They were close together, 'pop, pop'", said one woman who wanted to remain anonymous.
Someone who was passing by the intersection tells us he saw another man get taken away in an ambulance.
"I was coming down on my bike and I saw people running here and there. I stopped, I filmed, and there was blood right under that mat.," said John Edwards.
Neighbors who live on this street tell us it was "only a matter of time" before something like this happened.
"It's wild down there. A lot of the neighbors have complained. There's a lot of activity, there's a lot of noise from there, and people coming in and out, just very suspicious," said one woman who lives on the street.
"My only concern is the school, like John Adams is right there. What happened if school was in and kids were walking, you know?" Pam Esposito said. "That's a huge concern for me right now, thinking schools open, you have this going on. That's a huge concern."
Robinson faces aggravated assault and weapons charges.
