BLOOMSBURG -- Despite a little bit of rain Thursday morning, the weather at this year's Bloomsburg Fair has been nice and sunny.
Fair officials say that is one of the reasons they believe this year's attendance is up from last year. The fair's president says he hopes for even higher attendance numbers on Saturday.
Crowds filled the streets at the Bloomsburg Fair for one last bite to eat before the fair comes to a close. For many, it is the last time they will be at the fair for the season.
"We've been coming down about the last 45 years. And we come down here and the first place I hit is the potato pancakes stand at the church," said Rose Schmid of Dallas.
The Andreas family of Bloomsburg stocked up on sugar waffles. They say they are sad to see the fair end on Saturday.
"It's fun, it's a nice day. It's a time to get out and have fun. Basically that's what it comes down to," said Chuck Andreas.
Bloomsburg Fair president Paul Reichart says more people have come to the fair this year than last year. So far, overall attendance is up by about 6,000 people.
"Our total last year was 422,000 total. We expect it to pass that mark. Hopefully it goes to 450,000."
Reichart says he credits the increase in attendance with the fairly beautiful weather.
"You just couldn't get any better. We had a little bit of moisture yesterday morning, but that's it. And for Bloomsburg Fair this is just a tremendous week with the weather," said Reichart.
Even though fair officials say attendance is up, some vendors tell Newswatch 16 their business is down.
"There's not as much disposable income as there should be. A lot of things go up, whether it's our food cost or the gate charge, or the grandstand tickets," said Vince's Cheesesteaks owner Vince Cocca.
Fair officials say they are hoping for a busy Saturday. It is the last day of the Bloomsburg Fair and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.
