CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. -- A restaurant in Lackawanna County has brought year-round alfresco dining to northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

Drive past State Street Grill in Clarks Summit at night and you immediately notice, what look like odd, colored orbs on the outside lawn.

A closer look reveals people inside, and they’re having fun.

State Street Grill is showing off its four new igloos.

The plastic enclosures are where people can sit outside and enjoy a meal or drink even on the coldest of winter nights.

“They really like it, they really do. And the heat? It's pretty heated in there,” server at the State Street Grill Tyler Hedges said.

The igloos have only been up for a few days, but they're already proving popular.

Manager Reid Holcomb says state street's owner got the idea from seeing rooftop bars in New York City.

“He wanted to bring kind of a big city feel to Clarks Summit here, get people out in the winter,” Holcomb said.

On Tuesday night, the igloos hosted several people for dinner, and a group of women, who told Newswatch 16 this was a mom's night out.

They're impressed by their first visit.

“At first we thought, I told my son about this, we were thinking this was all ice inside, but this is cool with the lights,” Marisa Nalevanko of Waverly said.

“I think it’s preferable. It's not ice.” Emily Karam of Waverly said.
