WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Troopers were on the scene for more than three hours Sunday afternoon, after an SUV traveling south flipped off the side of the road.

The crash happened shortly before three Sunday afternoon. First responders from Wilkes-Barre City and Township responded, as well as Hanover Township and state police. The Ford SUV was traveling on I-81 south when it flipped near mile marker 167.

State police say ten people were involved in the crash. Investigators say several people were thrown from the vehicle.

The victims of the wreck range in age from two to 40 years old. Officials say all ten of the victims were traveling in the same vehicle.

Ten medic units from around the area transported patients to Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. One patient was airlifted to Geisinger in Danville.

Both lanes of I-81 south are reopened. There is no word on their conditions after the crash in Wilkes-Barre Township.
