Former Scranton Zoning Officer Accused of Theft

SCRANTON, Pa. — A former Scranton zoning officer is accused of stealing hundreds of dollars in permit fees.

Scranton police believe Jack Sweeney, 62, took money for a restaurant permit in April but failed to submit about $1,400 of it.

Sweeney is also accused of trying to cover up the theft.

He was fired in July.
