MOUNT CARMEL, Pa. -- Several homes are damaged after a fire in Northumberland County.

Viewer video shows smoke and flames pouring from a home in Mount Carmel.

The fire started around 6 a.m. Tuesday on North Walnut Street.

Edward Koblinski sat on the curb looking at his ruined house on North Walnut Street in Mount Carmel Tuesday morning. It's a place he has called home for more than 40 years.

"The fire was coming from the front of the house they have a bow window in the front, it was coming from the front. Then it just progressed and progressed and fire shot from the side of their house," he said.

Fire crews said the flames started at the house next to Koblinsk's and spread fast.

One neighbor described it as a fireball.

Koblinski and his neighbors made it out safely. He suffers from glaucoma and worried about getting his medication out of his charred house. Firefighters got the pills for him.

"It's devastating. What else could it be? I mean you work all your life, you grew up in the house and now it's gone, 5 seconds," said Koblinski's friend John Erophy of Shenandoah.

Koblinski plans to stay with John for the time being.

"I don't know what I'm going to do," he said.

State police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
