Woman Pulled from Lake in Poconos Has Died

TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman who was pulled from a lake in Monroe County has died.

It happened at Arrowhead Lakes, a private community near Blakeslee.

Police say the woman was swimming around 3 p.m. on Tuesday when witnesses said she yelled for help and went under the water. She was pulled from the water by a rescue boat and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as Marianna Simkhovich, 73, of Brooklyn, New York.
