JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Lackawanna County coroner says a man whose body was pulled from a pond died from accidental drowning.
State police confirm the body of Shawn Venticinque, 24, from the Moscow area was pulled from a pond in Jefferson Township Sunday morning.
Troopers and rescue crews responded to the area of Oak Lane Avenue and Laurel Drive near Mount Cobb after a neighbor reported seeing what looked like a body in the water.
Neighbors we spoke with in the area say they were woken up around 3 a.m. by people yelling.
"She just heard a lot of commotion, a lot of people yelling, and she heard some guy yelling, 'Help! Help!' Then all of a sudden, she heard quietness," said neighbor Daniel Gilgallon.
The coroner released autopsy results on Tuesday, saying the man drowned and ruled the manner of death as accidental.
