Weissport Police Chief Fired After Charged with Child Rape

WEISSPORT, Pa. -- A police chief is off the job after he was charged with child rape in Carbon County.

The Morning Call newspaper reports the Weissport council voted unanimously Tuesday night to fire Chief Brent Getz.

He's accused of sexually assaulting a child hundreds of times over a seven-year period in Carbon County.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro believes there could be more victims.

“This investigation is ongoing, and my Office believes there may be other victims,” Shapiro said. “We encourage anyone with information about this case to call a special Carbon County Sexual Abuse hotline that my office has set up at 267-768-3957. You don’t have to be afraid to come forward—we want to hear from you.”
