COAL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Northumberland County correctional officer wanted for fleeing the county jail after a search has turned herself in.
Investigators had been searching for Holly Olvany of Sunbury.
Authorities say a K-9 searching for drugs at the Northumberland County jail this week stopped at Olvany's locker and at her vehicle and an unknown substance was found. Before she could be questioned, officers say Olvany sped off in her car nearly hitting a jail official who was chasing her.
Olvany turned herself in on Thursday and was released on unsecured bail. She faces misdemeanor charges of obstruction, recklessly endangering another person, and disorderly conduct. The current charges relate only to her fleeing the jail after the search.
Olvany is currently suspended with pay.
This is not the first time Olvany has been in trouble. According to the Daily Item newspaper, in 2013, she choked and verbally threatened an inmate.
In 2014, that inmate took the case to court, suing Olvany and other jail officials for $3 million claiming her abuse claims were ignored and she was punished for them.
Jurors found Olvaney violated that inmate's rights and used excessive force.
Despite that lawsuit, Olvany kept her job.
