WYOMING, Pa. -- A community in Luzerne County is rallying behind a girl badly hurt when she was hit by a car last month.

The owners of ZFlexFitness LLC and their clients are helping young Dakota Segeda.

The 11-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle on Route 92 in Exeter Township by her home back in November.

"I was actually driving by when it had happened right after, so I saw the cones being removed and things like that, it was very sad. It just kind of goes to the heart because you just think of your own children and what you would do in this devastating time,” said Kim Chervenitski of Harding.

Segeda, a 5th grader in Wyoming Area, was critically injured. She remains in the hospital and her parents are by her side. The 5th grader remains hospitalized with brain and other internal injuries.

Businesses, churches, community and school groups have all pitched in with donations.

"It hits home it's a child. Your life can change in like a second. That could be anybody. It was an accident and anyway we can help put them at ease would be great," said Amy Rau of Exeter.

There is a basket raffle at ZFlexFitness with donated gift cards, services and more.

"I think it just shows you know the Wyoming Valley coming together to help and give, especially in the time of need of Christmas and the holiday right now, just amazing, just amazing coming together,” said Sarah Zielinski of ZFlexFitness LLC.

The basket raffle goes through December 21 at the gym on East 6th Street in Wyoming.

A GoFundMe page has been set help to help Dakota and her family.
