Girl Named ‘Abcde’ Mocked by Southwest Gate Agent; Airline Apologizes

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Southwest Airlines is apologizing after a gate agent apparently mocked a 5-year-old girl’s name and posted a photo of her boarding pass on social media, according to KABC.

The girl’s mother claims the agent mocked the girl’s name, Abcde Redford, and laughed at her while they were boarding the plane.

The girl’s name is pronounced “ab-city,” according to KABC.

Redford said someone saw the photo of Abcde’s boarding pass on Facebook and brought it to her attention.

Redford said contacted Southwest Airlines about the photo. The airline issued a statement to ABC7 on Thursday:

“We extend our sincere apology to the family. We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers, which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online. The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees. We have followed up with the Employee involved, and while we do not disclose personnel actions publicly, we are using this as an opportunity to reinforce our policies and emphasize our expectations for all Employees.”

My first thought when I saw this was ‘I bet that mother is a vapid, uptalking bimbo’. I’m glad I watched the video because I was right.

Never seems to amaze me how these morons deliberately do something stupid ….. then get all butthurt when they are called out on the obvious. Society as a whole needs to understand that they can do what ever they want, but the rest of us are not going to join them in their delusions ……. ever. We refuse to enable and legitimize the denial that these people bask in. Do something stupid …… own it!

What’s wrong with people anymore? Is the supply of names in the world running out? Did I miss something? In a society that’s all about stop bullying, these parents are contributing to someone being bullied. I’m looking at this in a realistic manner, what’s instore for this girl in the future? Even writing her name in school, filling out a college application, a job application… it’s going to be hard for her to get people to take her serious seriously. I hope I’m totally wrong about everything and wish her the best in life sincerely.

I’m afraid to even comment, but if I saw that I would be like, seriously? I’m all for unique names and such but I think there’s other ways to spell that. How would the person know? Insert eyeroll here. She was named after that song? What’s it called. Oh, the alphabet.
