MIFFLINBURG, Pa. -- Mixed precipitation started falling in central Pennsylvania late Thursday morning.

PennDOT trucks are putting salt on the roads in Union County. Most schools in this area have already dismissed in anticipation of the wintry weather and some county buildings are closing early.

It's only autumn but it sure looks like winter in Lewisburg. The snow started falling around 11 a.m., and once it started, it didn't stop.

Barb Diehl is the office manager at Coldwell Banker in Lewisburg. She spent the morning shoveling.

"Just getting the sidewalks taken care of. We don't want anyone falling. A lot of people walk through here," Diehl said.

One of the people walking along Market Street was Ann Distefano of Lewisburg.

"I love it. It's a little early to start winter but it's very pretty," Distefano said.

Some people tell Newswatch 16 they hope the snow goes away as fast as it came.

"Hopefully it will all be gone by next week when people have to travel for Thanksgiving," Distefano added.

Some people who would like to see the snow last a long time are sisters McKenna and Macy Wallace of Milton.

"It's fun," McKenna said.

"We're throwing snowballs!" Macy added.
