MANSFIELD, Ohio — The search for fugitive Shawn Christy has shifted to Ohio after authorities found the vehicle they believe he stole from Luzerne County.

Ohio State Highway Patrol found that vehicle wrecked on Interstate 71 near Mansfield, Ohio, between Columbus and Cleveland, around 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

There is currently a manhunt underway in that area.

US Marshals believe Christy stole a truck from Skitco Iron Works near Hazleton. Troopers responded just after midnight.

Investigators believe Christy burglarized the same business earlier this month.

The fugitive has eluded authorities for months after a warrant for Christy’s arrest for allegedly threatening President Donald Trump and other public officials.

This vehicle was abandoned not crashed. Using 6th grade arithmetic, this is exactly where a Cummins diesel truck would be in one tankful of Highway driving. I’ve driven this road many times. This could be Christy or decoy. In any event someone had to drive him from the scene. There are many colleges and universities in the Akron area where he could meld into the population. This could be a red herring or wild goose chase.

However, this time he is possibly headed southbound to where I-71 meets I-70 which takes him to West Virginia (east) or Indianapolis, St. Louis or Denver (west). From St. Louis he could be in New Orleans by Thursday.

Incidentally, Mansfield,OH is the home of the “defunct” prison used in SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1993) and my last speeding ticket (2000).

From the picture and having driven I-71, this truck was abandoned there with his next ride there to pick up the driver. We have no solid information it was Mr. Christy who abandoned the vehicle. He is long gone.

My guess is the owner of the truck will not press charges as doing so will mean the vehicle will not be returned until Christy is convicted years from now.

This could even be a planned act to misdirect authorities.

DR. RICHARD KIMBLE move over. These guys watched all the reruns of THE FUGITIVE.

My guess is he was days away when the truck was discovered in Mansfield, OH which is in the middle of that state.

This guy is connected, resourceful and clever.
