POTTSVILLE, Pa. -- Fire damaged a home Friday morning in Schuylkill County.

It started just before 9 a.m. on Peacock Street in Pottsville.

A woman was inside but was able to get out.

Firefighters helped rescue some pets from the burning home.

Crews put the fire out quickly.

Authorities are investigating a hit and run that happened near the scene of this fire.

Police say a fire policeman was hit around 9:30 a.m.

The 72-year-old victim was diverting traffic from the fire along peacock street when officers say one driver ignored the man's instructions, slammed into him with his car, and then took off.

The victim is OK.

Police are still looking for the hit and run driver.

There is no word how the fire started.
