TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. -- They gave it their all, but the road to a title has come to an end for the girls from Wyoming County.

The Tunkhannock Little League Softball team lost the championship game Wednesday night to a team from Ohio, but fans here at home say those girls are all winners. The all-stars from Tunkhannock lost 3-0.

A crowd packed Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock to watch the action late Wednesday night.

"It was definitely a pitcher's duel all the way to the fourth inning, they got a couple of runs, I mean credit to Ohio, they hit the ball well and Tunkhannock, we hung in there and in true Tunkhannock fashion we came back there in the end, which made it just a wonderful and exciting nailbiter,” said Gabriel Dulisse of Tunkhannock.

There are signs of support for the all-stars all over the Tunkhannock area.

There has been a lot of support from businesses in the area.

The girls are expected home Friday night and a parade in their honor has been scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

"We're really excited about the parade for Saturday to bring them home, they really worked so hard,” said Maureen Dymond of Tioga Bistro.

Many said it has been an exciting ride, watching and cheering for the players.

They said these girls have a lot ahead of them.

"They're great, great team, each individual, all together, each girl you could just go on and on about each one of them,” said Jami Day of Downtown Deli.

"The bubble of team right there is going to be in Tunkhannock for years to come and Tunkhannock has great things to watch as these girls develop,” said Todd Bosscher principal of Tunkhannock Area High School.

The parade is set to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday in Tunkhannock.
