TROY, Pa. -- Folks in one community in Bradford County got walloped by heavy flooding.
People in Troy say they got several feet of water in homes and businesses after a creek crested its banks.
The day-long downpours turned Sugar Creek into a raging river as waters broke through its banks flooding the borough of Troy.
Workers at Krise's Tires were trying to salvage as much of their inventory as possible. Owner Ron Krise says after getting several feet of water into the auto shop, he's lost a lot of equipment.
“Inventory, electronics, a lot of computer systems, tools boxes. We got probably two and a half feet inside, so anything that sits above that is probably OK, but everything down below is gone,” said Krise.
Merle Eiffert watched the water come through the parking lot of his workplace and said it happened fast, leaving behind all this damage but taking his boss's vehicle.
“Pretty intense,” said Eiffert. “The boss's Jeep was parked here. We couldn't find her keys, and it picked up and went across this bridge and down over the bank, so I don't know where it is now.”
The flooding also managed to leave behind some critters, as people were finding crayfish in pools of water.
Gordon Calkins believes he had at least five feet of water in his basement.
“So, I got home, the water was, I was pretty much an island at my house,” said Calkins.
From the deck of Calkin's home, Sugar Creek was anything but sweet as it surged by.
People here say they've never seen flooding this bad.
“Not this bad. Not even Agnes flood was this bad in ’72,” said Krise.
“This is the worst from what I understand. I wasn't around for ‘72, but this one here is pretty close to it,” said Eiffert.
Now folks say it's time to focus on the clean-up and recovery.
