PLAINS TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A domestic incident ended with a train crash in Luzerne County.
The train plowed into a car parked on the tracks near Wilkes-Barre early Tuesday morning.
Plains Township police say during a couple's fight earlier in the morning, a man smashed the windows of his girlfriend's car on Miner Street. He then took off in his car and made a left.
That left was on the train tracks where his car became stuck.
The man got out of his car and then a train came and smashed the car.
Police did end up talking to the driver and say he will be cited.
"This is pretty fast for this time of the night. It was about quarter after four in the morning and this car was going really fast without its lights on and the tracks are up ahead. And I am like, 'yeah, he is going really fast for tracks upcoming,'" said a neighbor.
Neighbors say they saw the car come down Miner Street and make a left on the railroad crossing. Police say that car got stuck on the railroad tracks.
The driver of the car did get out of his car safely before the train came through.
Plains Township police say the driver will be cited.
"This was a little crazy. I was taken back by this. I really didn't think it would've been what it really was."
Fire officials say this crash serves as a warning for drivers to be more careful around railroad crossings.
"When you get to crossings like that, you should always try to slow down and make sure you are going slow over it and make sure you stay vigilant," said Plains Township Fire Capt. Michael Van Luvender.
Railroad officials say the tracks weren't damaged.
Plains Township police say no one was hurt and they are still investigating the incident.
