WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- One man died after a forklift truck hit a power line Friday morning in Luzerne County.

Officials say a construction vehicle hit a power line in the Crestwood Industrial Park in Wright Township around 10 a.m.

The coroner's office says Jason Evans, 43, of Clarks Summit was operating the forklift and has died.

Photos from the scene show the machine with the lift extended coming into contact with transmission wires carrying 69,000 volts of electricity.

Evans is the co-owner of Evans Roofing in Clarks Summit.

Wright Township police say he was putting a new roof on a building at East Coast Logistics and Distribution when his forklift hit a power line. Other contractors pulled him out of the burning machine. he was taken to the hospital where he died.

No one else was hurt.

Federal safety officials are investigating the deadly incident.
