JENKINS TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A traffic alert for drivers in Luzerne County -- part of the Pittston Bypass is closed for repairs.
PennDOT officials say the portion of the bypass in Jenkins Township shut down on Monday.
According to PennDOT, a contractor is working on a bridge that takes the bypass under Yatesville Road so the bypass needs to close.
A detour is set up. The detour involves traveling through downtown Pittston, plus using Williams Street, and Oak Street in Pittston Township.
If all goes according to schedule, bypass traffic will be back to normal by Thursday evening.
The work is scheduled to be finished Thursday.
PennDOT says the contractor will be working 16 hour days to get the job done as quickly as possible.
