Fire at Substation in Northumberland County

TURBOT TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A brand new transformer exploded causing a fire at a PPL substation in Northumberland County.

The fire chief says the substation near Milton caught fire when a contractor tried to start the new transformer just before 11 a.m. Saturday.

No one was hurt, and no one lost power as a result of the fire.
