WASHINGTON — A girl shown in a photo crying as a U.S. Border Patrol agent detained her mother and used in a Time magazine cover about the Trump administration’s family separation policy was never separated from her mom, several media outlets reported.

The Time cover shows the Honduran girl, Yanela Sanchez, next to President Donald Trump, who is looking down, with the caption, “Welcome to America.

According to the girl’s father, his 2-year-old daughter was detained with her mother at a Texas facility and the two were not separated.  The Honduran government confirmed the father’s claim to Reuters.

The Washington Post reported the mother, Sandra Sanchez, was deported to Honduras in 2013.

According to the father, the girl’s mother left without telling him she was taking the girl with her and couldn’t contact her. He later saw the picture, taken by Getty Images photographer John Moore, on the news.

“You can imagine how I felt when I saw that photo of my daughter,” Denis Valera told The Daily Mail. “It broke my heart. It’s difficult as a father to see that, but I know now that they are not in danger. They are safer now than when they were making that journey to the border.”

He said he and his wife have three other children together.

“I didn’t support it. I asked her, why? Why would she want to put our little girl through that? But it was her decision at the end of the day,” Valera said.

AMJOY- (reply to your comment below) 2,342 children and 2,206 parents? Sounds like an awful lot of single parents. Do we really need to pay for more single parenting in our country? Single parent families are a burden on the taxpayer. Isn’t that right Wilkesbarre?

And there you have it. There’s as much ‘truth’ here as there is in all of the rest of the “border crisis” stories from the media.

Not so fast! Trump and his Russian buddies rigged and election, you think they can’t rig an interview or pay an actor to lie! What about the tens of thousands of other kids who were separated from their parents by the policies of this fascist administration!

      • AMJoy Fan

Sure, Vox just published a story that stated ” that 2,342 children have been separated from 2,206 parents at the US-Mexico border between May 5 and June 9 as part of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy “. And those are the ones WE KNOW ABOUT! I fear what the regime may be hiding from us

I think you’re hiding the fact that there’s a secret website where you can redeem all of your downvotes. You must have enough for a new car by now.

Time Magazine just issued a “major correction”. BWAHAHAHAhahaha…

Caught like the bolshevik rats that they are.

Fake news! Time didn’t retract a thing and showed true courage. Here is their statement “Under the policy enforced by the administration, prior to its reversal this week, those who crossed the border illegally were criminally prosecuted, which in turn resulted in the separation of children and parents,Our cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment.”

      • Silverfish Imperetrix

I said “correction” not retraction. Like Dan Rather’s (the LYING FORGER WHO LOST HIS JOB FOR TRYING TO INFLUENCE A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WITH A FORGED DOCUMENT) ‘fake but accurate’, a media commie will never retract one of their lies or apologize for being caught propagandizing.

        From Time:
“The original version of this story misstated what happened to the girl in the photo after she (was) taken from the scene. The girl was not carried away screaming by U.S. Border Patrol agents: her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.”

        Stop lying.
