EXETER, Pa. — Students in the Wyoming Area School District were kept home from class on Thursday after an internet threat against the school.

According to the district attorney, a student at Wyoming Area Secondary Center will be charged after multiple students received a Snapchat message Wednesday evening of another student holding two guns, along with a message warning that someone would be shooting up the school on Thursday.

Investigators have tracked the message back to the student they believe sent the message.

According to investigators, they do not believe the student was planning to actually shoot anyone but rather wanted to close the school for the day.

Charges against the juvenile are pending in Luzerne County.
