The snow on Wednesday is expected to start in the west and move east.

Newswatch 16's Nikki Krize is central Pennsylvania with a look at the conditions.

The snow in Snyder County finally started falling around 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

It started as freezing rain and quickly changed to snow. It only took about one hour for a half inch of snow to fall in Shamokin Dam.

Plow trucks treated the roads Including Route 147 near Sunbury but they couldn't keep up with all of them.

"I slipped a few times on slopes but nothing to stop me from getting out," John Peeler said.

Even though school districts closed for the day, that didn't stop people from having to go to work. Greg Marconi works at Bucknell University in Lewisburg and took it slow.

"They're a little slick. Luckily, I have a Subaru and all-wheel drive. You take it slow and easy and you'll get where you're going," Marconi said.

Other drivers had the same idea -- headlights on and take it slow. Some people played it even safer and walked.

Quite a few businesses closed because of the weather, but others stayed open, which means employees had to get to work.

Heather Emala works at All Star Bagels in Lewisburg. She drives from Milton.

"It's usually only a 10-minute drive but it took a little bit longer today."

Heather's husband drove her to work just to be on the safe side.

"The roads were icy underneath the snow. It was a little slippery. It wasn't too too bad early in the morning but it's getting worse now."
