MELCROFT, FAYETTE COUNTY — Four people, who were all in their 20s, were shot and killed Sunday at a southern Pennsylvania car wash.

The shooting happened about 3 a.m. ET in the village of Melcroft, 42 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Officers found four bodies and two injured people — including the suspected gunman, identified as Timothy Smith, 28.

Smith isn’t expected to survive after a gunshot wound to his head, officials said.

“It is a possibility that the gunshot wound to Smith was self-inflicted, however that determination has not been made at this point,” according to the police report.

Smith was wearing a body armor carrier without the ballistic panels inserted. He had several magazines of ammunition and three firearms — an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, 9 mm handgun and .308-caliber rifle, police said.

Smith apparently shot the victims with the AR-15 and the 9 mm, police said.

Citing the ongoing investigation, officials said at a press conference that they couldn’t comment on the relationship between Smith and the four victims and haven’t released a potential motive.

One of the victims, Chelsie Cline, had briefly been involved with Smith, but broke things off months ago, her sister Sierra Kolarik told CNN Pittsburgh affiliate WPXI.

The victims, Cline, 25, William Scott Porterfield, 27, Courtney Sue Snyder, 23, and Seth William Cline, 21, were shot after they arrived at the self-serve car wash in two cars.

Porterfield and Chelsie Cline arrived together, got out of the car and walked to the side of the business, where they were both killed, police said.

Snyder and Seth Cline arrived in a pickup truck, and they were both shot inside their vehicle while it was stopped.

While shots were being fired into the front of the vehicle, a woman who had been riding in the back seat was able to hide and survived with minor injuries from breaking glass, police said.

“She is cooperating with the investigation,” said Sgt. Jeremy Barni of Pennsylvania State Police. “Obviously it’s a traumatic experience for her.”

  • Archie Beal's Knickers

Archie Beal must’ve gotten a new device just so s/he can down-vote any and all comments on the 2nd Amendment.

The murderer in this article would have used a different weapon had firearms not been available. That man meant to kill, not necessarily to “shoot.” Jeepers

The BBC reported that Porterfield was cheating on his wife… something super fishy all up in here. Oh well.

  • Writer Girl

What is going on in PA anymore? It used to be such a nice place to live. To kill someone out of jealousy and over a girl who you probably wouldn’t have stayed with anyway.

    • Archie Beal's Knickers

The reason is that the 20 y/o generation was raised by foster parents, tired grandparents, child care centers, babysitters, video games, and/or reality tv shows. Most of these kids didn’t have a mother and father involved in their upbringing. Step-parents are typically not included as “parental” role models because they were just interested in their new spouses for whatever reason.

Nobody is teaching people any dignity, anymore.

  • Archie Beal

I have a confession to make – the reason I hate guns so much is I was abused with a gun by Quentin Tarantino when I was younger. Of course that was only two years ago and he still drops by regularly because I enjoy it so much, but that’s beside the point.

  • Archie Beal

You idiots still cannot give one legitimate, viable reason as to why the common citizen should possess a firearm such as an AR 15. They are not legal to hunt with. All they are good for is killing and maiming people. These killing tools need to be completely banned & taken out of circulation. Immediately. It would be a great starting point and desperately needed for gun control in country. The gun control issue in this country is totally out of control and only getting worse by the day. You don’t see this nonsense taking place in other countries where the government actually has control.

    • Archiebald butthole

On the contrary, semi-automatic rifles ARE legal to use for hunting in quite a few states. I would really, really like to meet you some day. Just to see what either a complete moron or huge troll looks like. My money’s on moron, for the record.

    • Here’s one. Like another?

Good reason #1: “ In 2010, a 15-year-old Texas boy used his father’s AR-15 to defend himself and his 12yo sister when they were home alone one afternoon and two home invaders attacked their house.” Or would you rather see that young man and his sister dead because they had nothing to defend themselves with?

    • Here goes Archie again..........

Archie is on here every time a gun is mentioned and says the same things. Do you not have anything better to do Archie? A job? A life?………………….. i bet not. Keep it to yourself, no one wants to hear it. You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead hands.

  • Concernedschuylkillcountyviewer

The car wash in Frackville is susceptible to this kind of violence, however, it’s predominantly a location for craigslist hook-ups, underage activities, and an entrance to the Vo-tech woods. #streetroamers

    • Ashlandtoughguy

The only time I ever got pinned was near that car wash. Wasn’t my fault this guy came out of no where and got me down. He was really crafty cuz he was wearing sweatpants. Might go back there for da rematch.

  • Cowboy

3-AM in a car wash, could it be for the sale of DRUGS or somebody didn’t have change for the shooter and he got
pissed –off. I am not a police detective but I say drug sale and not washing a car.

  • Archie Beal

Because we want them is not a legitimate reason. Lloyd, sound like a 3 year old with that response. The real fact here is I am willing to bet the majority of you gun nuts that bitch and moan about these gun rights, A. Cannot legally posess a firearm or B. Cannot afford to buy and own one. So you really haven’t a dog in this fight and should just keep quiet and remain in your trailers or mother’s basements.
    Societal Losers

    • Wanna bet?

I own several AR-style rifles and a large variety of other hand and long guns. I have a concealed carry permit for the state of PA, a CDL, pilots license, and several federal security clearances due to my employment. There are an estimated 15 million MSR’s (modern sporting rifles) in the hands of civilians, good luck trying to round them all up. Save your breath Archie-not only are you wasting it-it stinks too.

    • concerned commuter

I not only can own one but I do and I have a concealed carry permit. There are many places that I wouldn’t think of going in Luzerne County without being armed. The constitution says we are allowed to have them and they aren’t any different than any other semi-auto rifle. All you wackos think that the AR stands for assault rifle when in fact it stands for Armalite Rifle, the company that developed it. Remington’s model 750 is a semi-auto but I don’t hear any calls to ban that one. It isn’t a BLACK rifle so it doesn’t scare people.

    • Got Me Some

What the darn-diddily-doodily did you just say about me, you little witcharooney? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at Springfield Bible College, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret mission trips in Capital City, and I have over 300 confirmed baptisms. I am trained in the Old Testament and I’m the top converter in the entire church mission group. You are nothing to me but just another heathen. I will cast your sins out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in Heaven, mark my diddily-iddilly words. You think you can get away with saying that blasphemy to me over the Internet? Think again, friendarino. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of evangelists across Springfield and your IP is being traced by God right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggorino. The storm that wipes out the diddily little thing you call your life of sin. You’re going to Church, kiddily-widdily. Jesus can be anywhere, anytime, and he can turn you to the Gospel in over infinity ways, and that’s just with his bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in preaching to nonbelievers, but I have access to the entire dang- diddily Bible collection of the Springfield Bible College and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your sins away off the face of the continent, you diddily-doo satan-worshipper. If only you could have known what holy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you from the Heavens, maybe you would have held your darn-diddily-fundgearoo tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re clean of all your sins, you widdillo-skiddily neighborino. I will sing hymns of praise all over you and you will drown in the love of Christ. You’re farn-foodily- flank-fiddily reborn, kiddo-diddily.

    • Archie Beal's Knickers

Archie Beal, by your own extraordinary mental gymnastics, you are saying that the 2nd Amendment is applicable only if a citizen can afford to purchase a firearm? What are you smoking and why aren’t you sharing it?

With that logic, YOU can’t afford a Tesla Roadster automobile at $200K, so they shouldn’t be manufactured.

      What a maroon……..

  • speak 'n' spell

It’s not a “gun” issue. It’s an “idiot” issue. Citizens have owned firearms since the inception of this nation. The violence that has blossomed since the early 1960’s is socially and politically motivated – keep the dumb as dumb as possible, and deflect and misdirect any questions.

Values. Morals. Ethics. All lacking today in such an extreme that repealing the Second Amendment will not solve the violence issues. These idiots will use box-cutters and tire irons (do they still make those?) as weapons. The only thing that will solve this problem is by raising and demanding expectations to be met within families, cultures, and public education. As it stands, there are none in place, today.

    • Finnegan Pin

You are so right, Speak ‘N’ Spell–it has become and “idiot” issue. Uneducated, unwashed slobs like you, who demand the ” right” to place killing machines in the hands of angry, violent nincompoops, are the problem. For God’s sake do not reproduce.

  • Archie Beal

Another violent incident involving an AR 15. These weapons desperately need to be removed from the hands of the common person. They serve no purpose other than to kill people. You gun nuts cannot provide a valid or intelligent arguement to support why these weapons shouldn’t be banned. They have no place in society and need to be removed immediately.

      • Wanna bet?

You forgot ‘because the constitution allows it’ too. Nobody needs to drive a F-350 diesel blaster everywhere for everything either, but they’re as thick as flies on fresh dog poop no matter where you go. And vehicles still kill more people every day than guns do.

    • concerned commuter

The problem is not the AR-15. The problem is the person behind it. We used to take our guns to school in our cars so we could go hunting on the way home. There were no school shootings nor mass shootings. The guns didn’t change, the PEOPLE did! It isn’t the guns fault that some wacko decides to use it in an unlawful manner. The AR-15 is no different than, say, a Remington semi-auto rifle except that it looks SCARY to those that don’t know any better.

  • Lloyd Schmucatelli

Sounds like a drug deal gone bad.

Wnepeee jumps at the chance to smear the AR, but still hasn’t reported on the harrisburg terrorist. Hmmm….
